"Belgrade Above the Waters" – a stroll through the city's history, drop by drop.
Water is not just an element – it is a story, a memory, and a witness to the past. Belgrade, a city that rests on the Sava and Danube rivers, hides 23 smaller rivers, streams, and thousands of springs. Since Roman times, every great conqueror has left their mark by creating aqueducts, and it was precisely the aqueduct that saved thousands of lives when the city fell to the Turks in 1521. year.
On this walk, we follow the traces of Belgrade's fountains and water sources – from Roman springs and Ottoman sebils to the modern fountains that adorn the squares today.
